Chase has launched today a special offer for the Chase Freedom Unlimited® credit card. This one is different from the usual bonus that we see on this card. Instead of a welcome bonus upfront, Chase will match all your cash back for the first year. That means a minimum of 3% cash back on all purchases, and as high as 10% cash back on bonus categories. And it gets better if you have a premium Chase card which enables you to transfer cash back to Ultimate Rewards points.

Special Offer

Chase is offering Unlimited Matched Cash Back. That means that they will automatically match all the cash back you have earned at the end of your first year! There is no limit to how much cash back you can earn with a new Chase Freedom Unlimited® card.

After the first 12 statement cycles, Chase will give you a one time bonus equal to all the cash back earned for the year. But how much can you earn? Here are the earning rates on this card during the first year, including the matched cash back:

  • 10% on travel (up from 5%) purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards.
  • 6% on dining at restaurants (up from 3%), including takeout and eligible delivery services.
  • 6% on drugstore purchases (up from 3%)
  • 3% cash back on all purchases (up from 1.5%)

There is no limit to how much cash back Chase will match, so this can be a great opportunity for those who need to spend large amounts over the next 12 months. Plus, this is a no-fee credit card, which means that you can keep it in your wallet long term.

Unlock More Value

To unlock more value from this bonus, it’s best to pair your Chase Freedom Unlimited® with premium Ultimate Rewards earning credit cards such as Chase Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. That enables you to convert the cash-back balance to Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Points can then be used for travel for a value of up to 1.5 cents each, or you can transfer to travel partners. That’s where you can really maximize your value. Depending on how much you value Chase Ultimate Rewards, it could mean around 5% cash back on all purchases for one year with this Chase Freedom Unlimited® offer.

Chase has 14 partner airline and hotel programs and transferring to them can be the best option to maximize the value of your points.

Here are the 1:1 ratio travel partners:

  • Aer Lingus
  • Air Canada Aeroplan
  • British Airways Executive Club
  • Emirates
  • Flying Blue (Air France / KLM)
  • JetBlue
  • Iberia Plus
  • IHG Rewards Club
  • Marriott Bonvoy
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards
  • United Airlines MileagePlus
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
  • World of Hyatt

You should familiarize yourself with a specific loyalty program before transferring your Ultimate Rewards points. Point transfers are not reversible. That means that if you Transfer Ultimate Rewards to World of Hyatt for example, you can’t transfer them back to your Chase account. You will have to use them for Hyatt stays.
