Boost your stimulus fund balance with the right credit card

Let’s be honest, these are not the easiest times financially for a lot of people.

While it looks like another round of stimulus checks will be on its way in the next couple of months (and it might be even higher than expected), some people might need access to credit immediately and not have time to sit around and wait for the government to do something.

For these people, they should seriously consider applying for a Capital One card. But not just any card.

Tip: Use WalletFlo for all your credit card needs. It’s free and will help you optimize your rewards and savings!

The cards below are directed to those people who do not have the best credit so even if you don’t have a perfect credit score, there is still hope for you.

If your credit score is really not great (as in it is in the low 600s) or you have delinquent marks, you might consider going for the Capital One Platinum Credit Card. I’ve referred this card to people in the past with bad credit and have seen a number of individuals get approved.

Your starting credit limit might not be huge but it will be a start and you can begin to rebuild your credit report and build up your score by getting a card like this. Also, if you make on time payments after six months you might be eligible for a credit limit increase.

And the best part is, there is no annual fee for this credit card.

If your credit is a little bit more established such as in the mid to high 600s, you might consider going with a card like the Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card. This is a really popular card and for good reason.

You’ll earn 1.5% back on every purchase which is very competitive for a cash back credit card. The annual fee is very low at only $39 as well. If you used this card to pay for the expenses you would use with $2,400 worth of your stimulus funds, you would net an additional $36 back, which almost completely offsets the annual fee.

If your credit score is really not in good shape then you want to start rebuilding your credit with a secured credit card. In that case, I would recommend that you check out the Capital One Secured Mastercard.

The cards above are not going to be the most flashy travel rewards credit card but they will set you up nicely to have additional credit in case you needed and more importantly, they can help improve your credit score over time.

At a time when things are pretty uncertain economically, it’s not a bad idea to have some credit to fall back on just in case, especially if you can earn some decent rewards like you can with the Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card.
