Citi has launched a new American Airlines credit card designed for frequent flyers looking to boost their AAdvantage miles balance while gaining access to premium travel perks.
With a 90,000-mile welcome bonus, solid travel benefits, and lounge access built in, this card positions itself as a solid mid-tier option, though many may struggle to justify the long-term value.
Here’s a closer look at what it offers:
Welcome Bonus
Earn 90,000 American Airlines miles after $5,000 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening.
This is a strong bonus — nearly 100K miles. Citi also applies a 48-month rule specific to this version, meaning you could still qualify even if you’ve had other Citi AAdvantage cards in the last 48 months. It’s a solid way to build your AA balance or add to your existing setup.
Remember: You can track your spend for welcome bonuses with WalletFlo’s spend tracker.
Bonus Spend Earning
The earning structure isn’t quite as strong as I’d prefer overall, but it does have a standout category if you book through AAdvantage Hotels. You’ll earn:
- 3x miles on American Airlines purchases
- 6x miles on AAdvantage Hotels bookings
- 2x miles at restaurants (including takeout and delivery)
- 2x miles on Rides and Rails purchases (taxis, rideshares, public transit)
- 1x mile on all other purchases
I think the 2X on dining is the letdown, as you ‘d expect something closer to 3X with this annual fee.

Perks and Credits
This card comes with a mix of travel perks and lifestyle credits that add solid overall value:
- 4 Admirals Club Globe Passes per year — digital lounge passes worth $300+ total, accessible through your AAdvantage wallet.
- First checked bag free and preferred boarding on domestic American Airlines flights.
- Flight Streak bonus: earn 5,000 Loyalty Points after every 4 qualifying American Airlines flights (up to 15,000 per status year).
- American Airlines Companion Certificate — available starting your second cardmember year upon renewal, valid for one domestic round-trip in main cabin ($99 ticketing fee plus taxes and fees).
- Up to $100 back on inflight purchases each calendar year.
- Up to $120 credit every 4 years toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck.
- Up to $240 back on Turo: $30 per eligible trip, up to $240 per calendar year (link your card at Turo.com/Globe and pay with this card).
- Up to $100 Annual Splurge Credit: earn statement credits at up to two of the following — 1stDibs, eligible AAdvantage Hotels, Future Personal Training, or Live Nation.
The Turo credit feels a bit limited at $30 per trip, which doesn’t stretch far for a rental service. The Splurge Credit isn’t the strongest either, but it can still be useful if you book through AAdvantage Hotels, since that’s one of the eligible options.
Overall, the lounge passes stand out as the most valuable perk — easily worth more than the card’s annual fee if you fly American Airlines a few times a year.
Annual Fee
The $350 annual fee puts this card solidly in the mid-tier category for premium cards.
Final word
If you don’t already have Admirals Club access and know you’ll make use of the included lounge passes, the value is definitely there. The same goes if you’re missing some of the other built-in travel perks — it can round out your benefits nicely if you fly American Airlines often.
That said, for many people, the big 90,000-mile welcome bonus will be the main draw. Once that’s earned, it may be harder to justify the ongoing fee unless you consistently use the lounge passes or flight-related perks each year.
