United is offering cheap nonstop roundtrip flights Cancun (CUN) from Houston (IAH) for several months throughout the year. Via Thrifty Traveler, these rates can be as low as $174 and can be found on the following dates:
Houston to Cancun (IAH – CUN) – $174 nonstop
- Departures: October 15-17, 22-24, 29-31, Nov 5-7, 12-14, 26-28, Dec 3-5, 10-12, 31, Jan 1-2, 7-9, 14-16, 21-22, 28-29, Feb 4, 6, 19-20, 25-27, March 4-6, 18-20, 26-27, April 2-3, 10, 15-17, 22-24, 29-30, May 1, 7-8, 13-15, 22
- Returns: Almost daily through June 7 (best Tue-Thurs)
The drawback to these rates is that the majority of them seem to fall in the middle of the week but if you were planning a trip to depart to Cancun early the week for a 7-day get-a-way then this could work perfectly. And even if you can’t snag the lowest fare, there are still very competitive rates for other days.
If you are planning on traveling to Cancun or any of the other Mexican hotspots, I recommend reading up on my article about some of the current dangers. I wouldn’t stress too much about some of the things happening in other parts of Mexico but there are a couple of resorts (Iberostar resorts) I would probably avoid because they’ve had a high rate of alcohol-related instances where alcohol might have been tainted.
