American Express Delta Cards Improved with New Benefits and Big Welcome Bonuses

If you often fly with Delta Air Lines, or even if you take a couple of flights every year, then having one of the Delta SkyMiles credit cards is quite beneficial. Not only can you earn miles that will eventually get you free flights, but you can also elevate your travel experience with additional perks.

American Express and Delta offer three popular Delta SkyMiles® American Express Cards, which are designed to improve your travels and deliver everyday value to consumers. This week these cards were revamped with new benefits that include extra annual credits, and the annual fees were also increased.

Card Members can earn up to:

New credits include a Resy Credit for U.S. Resy restaurants, a Rideshare Credit, and a Delta Stays Credit to use on prepaid Delta Stays bookings on delta.com. Enrollment is required.

On top of that, welcome offer have also been improved, offering between 70,000 and 100,000 miles, depending on which credit card you choose.

Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card

The new offer will earn you 70,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months. Offer expires 3/27/2024. This card comes with a $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $150 (Rates & Fees).

Besides the welcome bonus, the card is also getting some valuable perks. First there’s a $200 Delta Flight Credit that you earn after spending $10,000 in purchases in a year. You also get up to $100 back annually on eligible prepaid Delta Stays bookings on delta.com. Enrollment is required for some of these benefits. Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card comes with a $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $150 (Rates & Fees).

This is a good beginner card since you don’t have to pay a fee for the first year. After that, you can decide for yourself if the benefits are worth it.

Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card

This card now offers a welcome bonus of 90,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $4,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months. Offer expires 3/27/2024. That’s almost double the previous bonus. The annual fee on this card is $350. (Rates & Fees).

This card comes with more benefits for frequent flyers.

There’s a Companion Certificate, which is now improved. It can be used on Main Cabin domestic, Caribbean, or Central American roundtrip flights to select destinations each year after renewal of your Card.

You also get closer to status with an MQD Headstart of $2,500 Medallion® Qualification Dollars each Medallion Qualification Year and $1 Medallion® Qualification Dollar for each $20 of purchases made on your Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card. Enrollment is required for some of these benefits.

The card is getting some valuable credits as well. There’s a new $120 Resy Credit, in the form of up to $10 per month and a $120 Rideshare Credit that gives you up to $10 back in monthly credits on U.S. rideshare purchases with select providers. Another addition is a credit of up to $150 back annually on eligible prepaid Delta Stays bookings on delta.com. Enrollment is required.

On top of that you still receive either a $100 statement credit every 4 years for a Global Entry application fee or a statement credit up to $85 every 4.5 years for a TSA PreCheck® (through a TSA official enrollment provider) application fee, when charged to your American Express Card. Card Members approved for Global Entry will also receive access to TSA PreCheck at no additional cost.

To make your travel experience even better, cardholders with an eligible ticket purchased on or after Feb 1, 2024 will be added to the Complimentary Upgrade list, after Delta SkyMiles Medallion Members and Reserve Card Members. Enrollment is required for some of these benefits. Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card has a $350 annual fee (Rates & Fees).

Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card

This is the most premium offering for frequent Delta Air Lines customers. With this card you can now earn 100,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $6,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months. Offer expires 3/27/2024.

This card now has an annual fee of $650, but its provides tons of benefits, including lounge access. With the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card you get complimentary access to the Delta Sky Club® when traveling on a same-day Delta-marketed or Delta-operated flight. You will receive four Delta Sky Club One-Time Guest Passes each year. Enrollment is required.

Effective 2/1/25, Reserve Card Members will receive 15 Visits per year to the Delta Sky Club; to earn an unlimited number of Visits each year starting on 2/1/25, the total eligible purchases on the Card must equal $75,000 or more between 1/1/24 and 12/31/24, and each calendar year thereafter. Enrollment is required.

But there’s a lot more in terms of benefits.

New additions announced this week include $2,500 Medallion® Qualification Dollars each Medallion Qualification Year and additional $1 Medallion® Qualification Dollar for each $10 of purchases made on your Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card in a calendar year and get a boost toward achieving elevated Medallion Status for next Medallion Year.

Cardholders will also receive an improved Companion Certificate on First Class, Delta Comfort+®, or Main Cabin domestic, Caribbean, or Central American roundtrip flights to select destinations each year after renewal. Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card has a $650 annual fee (Rates & Fees).

In terms of annual credits, Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express cardholders now receive up to $240 Resy Credit ($20 per month), up to $120 Rideshare Credit ($10 per month), and up to $200 Delta Stays Statement Credit. Enrollment is required for some of these benefits.

Other benefits include upgrade priority over other Medallion Members within the same Medallion level and fare class, Hertz President’s Circle Status, and more. Enrollment is required. Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card has a $650 annual fee (Rates & Fees).
