New Hilton Promotion Q1 (over 60X?) [2020]

Hilton has just released the details for its first promotion of 2020 and it’s called “Points Unlimited.” For short, cheap stays this has the potential to be one of the most rewarding hotel promotions that I have seen in quite some time, especially if you have a Hilton credit card. Keep reading below for more details of the Hilton Q1 promotion!

New 2020 Hilton Promotion

  • 2,000 bonus points for every stay
  • 10,000 bonus points for every 10 nights

Note the difference between stays and nights in this promotion. Check out my analysis of this promotion below to see just how valuable this promo can be.

Sign-up link

Like all Hilton promotions, you must sign up to be eligible. You can sign up for this promotion by clicking on this link and following the instructions.

Eligible dates

Update: This promotion has been extended to September 7, 2020.

  • This promotion will apply from January 6 to May 3.
  • Members checking in before January 6, 2020 will receive credit for their stay if the stay is completed on or after January 6, 2020 and prior to or on May 3, 2020.
  • If you start a stay in the middle of the promotion period and check-out after May 3, you will not receive the bonus.

Is this a good promotion?

Sometimes these promotions are more favorable to people who are spending a lot of money on expensive stays and other times they are more valuable on shorter, cheaper stays. In this case, this promotion will benefit people more who make shorter stays.

For example, let’s say that you are making ten one night stays and spending $100/night.

You would earn 1,000 base points every night ($100 x 10) so at the end of these ten one night stays you would have earned 10,000 base points.

Let’s also see that you are a Hilton Diamond member so you earn an additional 10 points per dollar spent. This would leave you with a total of 20,000 Hilton points after the stay but that is before applying this new promotion.

Since you had tens stays you would earn 20,000 Hilton points from the 2,000 bonus points per stay portion of the promotion. Then, since you completed 10 nights you would also receive the bonus 10,000 points.

So your total earnings would look like this:

  • 10,000 base points
  • 10,000 bonus points from diamond status
  • 20,000 bonus points from the 2K/stay promotion
  • 10,000 bonus points from the 10 night promotion

That is a total of 50,000 bonus points and if you value Hilton points at half a cent per point that is like getting $250 back. Your total spend for the stays would be $1,000 so this would be like getting 25% back on your spend.

But let’s also say that you were using a Hilton credit card like the Hilton Aspire. That card earns 14X on Hilton purchases so your total points would be 64,000 bonus points.

  • 10,000 base points
  • 10,000 bonus points from diamond status
  • 20,000 bonus points from the 2K/stay promotion
  • 10,000 bonus points from the 10 night promotion
  • 14,000 bonus points from the Hilton Aspire

So you’d be earning a whopping 64X per dollar spent on Hilton purchases and getting back 32% for your spend. That would be fantastic!

But see, if instead of 10 individual stays you were just making one long stay of 10 nights then you would only earn 2,000 bonus points instead of the 20,000 bonus points. So you would earn a total of 46,000 bonus points.

  • 10,000 base points
  • 10,000 bonus points from diamond status
  • 2,000 bonus points from the 2K/stay promotion
  • 10,000 bonus points from the 10 night promotion
  • 14,000 bonus points from the Hilton Surpass

That would still be like a 23% return which isn’t bad but this is why the promotion favors people making shorter stays.

Also, if your stays were more expensive like $200 per night that would also bring down the earning rate. For example, with 10 individual stays you would earn 88,000 Hilton points for $2,000 worth of spend, which comes out to 22% back. Again not bad — just not astronomical.

  • 20,000 base points
  • 10,000 bonus points from diamond status
  • 20,000 bonus points from the 2K/stay promotion
  • 10,000 bonus points from the 10 night promotion
  • 28,000 bonus points from the Hilton Aspire

Terms and conditions

  • Members will earn 2,000 Bonus Points per stay on reward stays.
  • Reward stays will also count towards the 10,000 Bonus Point award.
  • The 10,000 Bonus Point award can be earned an unlimited number of times
  • A stay is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again.

You can read more about the questions here.

Final word

Overall, this is a nice promotion. But it is especially nice for people making shorter and cheaper stays since the percentage of return through the bonus points will be much higher. If you can stack your earnings with a Hilton credit card you could be looking at returns in the 60X+ range which is just awesome.

New Hilton Promotion (7,500 Bonus Points) [2019]

Hilton is known for its constant promotions and sometimes they offer multiple promos at the same time. Right now, you might be able to take advantage of multiple promos by going on a couple of stays at Hilton properties. I’ll give you all the details below.

New Hilton Offer

  • Stay once to earn 2,500 Bonus Points
  • Book a second stay to earn an additional 5,000 Bonus Point, for a total of 7,500 Bonus Points

This promo requires two separate stays (as opposed to nights), so make sure you’re clear on that distinction. You can register for this promotion here.

  • Offer valid for stays now through January 31, 2020
  • Registered Hilton Honor participants must complete stay challenge and complete up to two paid stays during the Promotional Period to obtain Hilton Honors Bonus Points.

The fact that the terms state that the stays must be paid makes me believe that stays on points may not qualify for this bonus.

Hilton Playa del Carmen.

Targeted?

The language suggests that this offer might be targeted. For example, it states, “This offer is only valid and exclusive to the recipient of the email invitation.” However, I didn’t receive an email and when I attempted to register, I got confirmation that I was registered to start earning points. I’ve experienced the same thing with others.

So there might be a degree of risk with this offer if you didn’t receive an email but if you get confirmation on the registration page like I did, at least you’ll have a basis for requesting bonus points if something were to come up.

Double the promos

Keep in mind this is separate from the ongoing promotion that Hilton already has (“go more, get more points”) which allows you to earn points the following ways:

  • Members will earn double Hilton Honors Bonus Points beginning on their second stay during the Promotion Period.
  • Members will earn an additional Bonus once completing certain stay requirements:
    • Additional 10,000 Bonus Points after competing 10 stays
    • Additional 15,000 Bonus Points after completing 5 more stays (total of 15 stays within the promotion period)
    • Additional 20,000 Bonus Points completing of 5 more stays (total of 20 stays within the promotion period)
  • Promotion Stay Dates: May 6 – September 8, 2019

You still have around a month to take advantage of that promo. As always, you’ll need to register for the promotion in order to earn points. There are also ongoing status matches for Hilton Gold and Diamond (although I would prefer to just get Hilton status via credit cards and be done with it).

Hilton Playa del Carmen.

Final word

This is a nice little bonus to get with little to no effort if you already have stays planned. 7,500 Hilton points could be worth around $35 so if you already have Hilton stays coming up, there’s no reason why you should not take advantage of this offer.

New Hilton Promotion Q2 Summer 2019 (Double the Points)

Hilton has just announced its new summer promotion for 2019 called “go more, get more points.” It’s not the most lucrative promotion we’ve ever seen but it does offer some pretty good value allowing you to double up on your base points. I’ve got all the details for the promo and the sign-up link below.

The new Hilton promotion terms

  • Members will earn double Hilton Honors Bonus Points beginning on their second stay during the Promotion Period.
  • Members will earn an additional Bonus once completing certain stay requirements:
    • Additional 10,000 Bonus Points after competing 10 stays
    • Additional 15,000 Bonus Points after completing 5 more stays (total of 15 stays within the promotion period)
    • Additional 20,000 Bonus Points completing of 5 more stays (total of 20 stays within the promotion period)
  • Promotion Stay Dates: May 6 – September 8, 2019

A ‘stay’ is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again.

Overall, this is a decent promotion with double the points, especially on more expensive stays. (Since you can’t earn double the points on your first stay, you might consider booking a cheap stay before a much longer stay if that will allow you to earn lots of extra Honors points.)

The additional bonuses of 10,000, 15,000, and 20,000 bonus points are okay but since they require stays versus nights, that’s going to tougher for a lot of people to meet. I definitely would not go chasing these bonuses or alter my plans to earn a mere 10K Honors points after 10 stays.

However, if you already had some stays lined up then you could earn up to a total of 45,000 Honors points from this additional bonus since each bonus tier is added on separately. For short and cheap stays, that could be a decent deal.

The good thing is you should be able to earn these points at all Hilton properties and there is no limit on the number of points you can earn.

Register for the promotion

As always, you’ll need to register for the promotion in order to earn points.

Registered Hilton Honors members checking in before May 6, 2019 will receive credit for their stay if the stay is completed after May 6, 2019 and prior to or on September 8, 2019.

New Hilton Honors Promotion for 2019 (2,000 Points)

Hilton is an industry leader when it comes to offering ongoing promotions. They are currently offering a promotion allowing you the ability to earn two times or even three times the points on certain stays and they just launched their new promotion for 2019 which looks to be pretty lucrative for shorter and cheaper stays.

The new promotion

The new promotion is called “Points Unlimited” and it allows you to earn the following rates:

  • 2,000 Bonus Points per stay
  • Plus 10,000 Bonus Points every 5 stays or 10 nights (whichever comes first)
  • Valid for stays January 4 to May 5

Register

  • You must register for this promotion and you can register for the promotion here. (It takes two seconds to register.)

Is this a good promotion?

I value Hilton points at half a cent per point, so this promotion would be offering about $10 in points per stay. Since the bonus amount is based on stays (and not nights) and not tied to your base points, this promo is going to be more lucrative for shorter stays and your return % will be higher for cheaper stays.

For example, if you were a Hilton Honors Diamond member you would earn 20 points per dollar spent. If you were to spend $100 on a one night stay then you would earn 2,000 Hilton Honors points. But with this promo, you would earn an additional 2,000 points so it would in effect double your earnings.

If you stayed three nights then your bonus promo points would still be 2,000 for the total stay so the return % for the bonus would drop from 100% to 33%.

Also, if you were spending more money on the stay such as $300 for the night then your additional bonus return would be much less from a percentage perspective. You’d earn 6,000 Hilton Honors points via Diamond status but the additional 2,000 points would only amount to a 33% bonus once again.

If you can hit the 5 stay threshold or 10 nights, the promo does get sweeter since it offers an additional 2,000 points per stay or 1,000 points per night. But again the shorter stays will be rewarded more here since points are per stay.

Restrictions

Like many other Hilton promotions there are few restrictions here.

  • No limit on points earned
  • No minimum stay requirement
  • Each time a member achieves 5 stays or 10 nights, 10,000 Bonus Points will be awarded and the member’s stay/night count will reset.
  • Only Hampton by Hilton Hotels in Mainland China excluded

It’s also worth noting that reward stays count for this promotion!

Hilton Honors elite status

If you are interested in learning more about Hilton honors elite status like Gold and Diamond status I suggest checking out my recent video I published and talks about how to earn the statuses and the difference in benefits.

Final word

This is a decent promotion and easy to sign-up for so you might as well do it. If you have shorter and cheaper Hilton stays planned for next year, you should be able to cash in with some good value.

Register for the New 2018 Hilton Promotion Now

Last week, I announced details for the new 2018 Hilton Honors promotion. This is a pretty lucrative promotion, especially when compared to the recent promos from Marriott/SPG. But like most other hotel promotion, you need to register for this promotion in order to earn anything.

The new 2018 Hilton Promotion

Here are the details for the promotion

  • Registered Hilton Honors members earn Double Points on every stay
  • For every $1 spent on stays, you’ll earn 10 Base Points, plus an additional 10 Bonus Points (5 Base Points plus 5 Bonus Points at Home2 Suite by Hilton and Tru by Hilton).
  • Silver, Gold & Diamond members will earn their Elite Tier Bonus on top of that.
  • Promotion Stay Period May 1 – August 31, 2018
  • Offer available at over 5,000 hotels worldwide
  • No caps and no minimum stay requirement

This is a solid promotion because there’s no minimum stay requirement so you’ll start earning points right from the jump. There’s also no cap on points earned. In addition, you’re earning twice the base points on every say as opposed to a fixed amount of points that diminishes your return percentage as you spend more. In this promo, you’re rewarded for more spend and if you can get the Hilton Aspire credit card you could be earning as much as 44 points per dollar!

Register for The New 2018 Hilton Honors Promotion

Yesterday, I wrote about both the new SPG Great Weeks, Great Weekends promotion and the new Marriott MegaBonus and now Hilton Honors has announced its new promotion for the first quarter of 2018.

The promotion

The new Hilton Honors promotion is called “Points Unlimited” and is launching January 1, 2018, and running through April 30, 2018. Points Unlimited will give Hilton Honors members 2,000 Bonus Points per stay, plus an additional 10,000 Bonus Points on every five stays.

Additional details:

  • Members must first register at HiltonHonors.com/PointsUnlimited prior to completing a stay within the Promotion Period
  • Members also earn 10,000 Bonus Points every five stays, regardless of tier with no limit on the number of Points you can earn
  • Promotion Stay Period runs January 1 – April 30, 2018
  • Offer available at over 5,000 hotels worldwide
  • No minimum stay requirements, no cap on the Points earned
  • Here’s a link to the FAQ

Earning potential

Here are a few examples to show the number of Bonus Points you can earn per stay with this promotion (not including Base Points earned):

  • 1 stay = 2,000 Bonus Points
  • 2 stays = 4,000 Bonus Points
  • 5 stays = 20,000 Bonus Points
  • 6 stays = 22,000 Bonus Points
  • 10 stays = 40,000 Bonus Points

At .4 cents per point, a normal Hilton Honors member will typically receive about a 6% return on a Hilton stay after earning 10X the points per dollar spent plus 5X the points per dollar spent for signing up for points + points.

The extra 2,000 Hilton Honors points from this promotion are worth about $8 so for a $200 stay you’d be netting an additional 4% return for a total return of 10%. The extra 5,000 Hilton Honors points are worth about $20 which is nice but requires a total of 5 stays to net that value so that’s an average of 1,000 extra Hilton points per stay or $4 per stay. So these are *decent* returns but nothing exceptional.

Keep in mind that you can supplement your earnings further by booking through the Hilton Honors app to get 500 more points for each completed stay through December 31, 2017. You need to register for this promotion here to be eligible for the bonus.

Final word

Overall, this is not the most lucrative Hilton promotion as others have offered double the points per night or triple the points for Diamond members on stays for returns as high as 16%. It’s worth noting that the percentages in returned value are higher for the Marriott and SPG promos though the nice thing about this promotion is unlike the Marriott or SPG promos, you can start earning extra points with your first stay. So in that respect, this promo might work about better for people with infrequent hotel stays.

Earn 2X the Points with New Hilton Promotion

As Hilton’s prior promotion offering 2X and 3X bonus points comes to an end on August 31, they’ve announced a new promotion called “Double Up.” With this new promotion you can earn double the points on every stay from September 1 through December 31, 2017.

This promotion will earn you double the base points on your stays, giving you an additional 10 Honors points per dollar spent. However, if you’re a Hilton Honors Diamond Member, your earnings can be even better. Diamond members can earn 10,000 points for every 10 nights (up to 50,000 points) from September 1 through December 31, 2017.

This promo has the potential to be pretty lucrative for many people. For example, you can earn the following per dollar spent:

  • 10 points (standard Honors earning rate)
  • 10 points (Double Up Promotion)
  • 5 points (Diamond elite bonus); 2.5 points (Gold Elite bonus)
  • 5 points (points + points)

That’s 27.5 points per dollar spent for Gold members and 30 points per dollar spent for Diamond members. At a rate of .4 cents per Honors point, that’s an 11% return for Gold and and 12% return for Diamonds.

The return for Gold members is great and higher than what other programs offer for standard mid-tier earning rates. The return for Diamond members is on par with the standard rebate that Marriott Platinum members receive (without any promotional offers), so it’s not quite as great although it’s obviously better if you can hit the 10 night threshold.

You can supplement your earnings further by booking through the Hilton Honors app to get 500 more points for each completed stay through December 31, 2017. You need to register for this promotion here to be eligible for the bonus.

Here are the terms and conditions (notice the exclusions):

Offer valid September 1, 2017, through December 31, 2017 (“Promotion Period”) at any hotel or resort within the Hilton Portfolio excluding Hampton by Hilton Hotels in Mainland China. Hilton Honors™ members must first register at HiltonHonors.com/DoubleUp prior to completing a stay within the Promotion Period. Registered Hilton Honors members will only receive Bonus Points for nights completed during the Promotion Period, regardless of a check-in date before the Promotion Period begins or a check-out date after the Promotion Period ends. Registered Hilton Honors members will earn Double Hilton Honors Bonus Points per stay during the Promotion Period. “Double Points” means you will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned during a stay. There is no limit to the total amount of Bonus Points that may be earned during the Promotion Period with this offer. However, there are restrictions on the amount of Base Points that can be earned on a single stay at certain brands. See Hilton Honors Terms and Conditions for more details. Bonus Points earned on Base Points do not count toward tier qualification. Please allow six to eight weeks from completion of your stay for points to appear in your Hilton Honors account.

Final word

While Hilton catches a lot of flack for their points not being the most valuable, the ability to rapidly accumulate large sums of Honors points (often through promotions) can make up for their lack of value. I wouldn’t consider this a an itinerary-altering promotion but it does make the earning rates for Hilton much more competitive which is great for Honors members.

New Hilton Honors Promotion Offering 2X or 3X the Points

Over the past year, Hilton Honors has been one of the top hotel loyalty programs for offering special promotions. While Hilton catches a lot of flack for their points not being the most valuable, the ability to rapidly accumulate large sums of Honors points often makes up for their lack of value. Staying true to form, Hilton is now offering a new promotion that’s going to be very sweet for a lot of people.

Update: Some offers are no longer available — click here for the latest deals!

Via OMAAT, Hilton is offering a new promotion called “Go More Get More” where you can earn double the points on every stay at 4,900 hotels when you sign up and complete a stay from May 1 through August 31, 2017. The deal is even sweeter for Hilton Diamond members, however, since you can earn triple the points on these stays.

This promo has the potential to be very lucrative for many people. For example, if you’re a Hilton Diamond member you can earn the following per dollar spent:

  • 10 points (standard Honors earning rate)
  • 5 points (Diamond elite bonus)
  • 5 points (points + points)
  • 20 points (triple the points with Go More Get More with Diamond status)

At a rate of .4 cents per Honors point, that’s roughly a 16% return which isn’t bad at all.

But you can supplement your earnings further by booking through the Hilton Honors app to get 500 more points for each completed stay through December 31, 2017. You need to register for this promotion here to be eligible for the bonus.

Also, keep your eyes open for Amex Offers that often go out for further savings when staying at Hilton properties.

Additional credit card earnings

And finally, you can really increase your Hilton Honors earnings by putting your Hilton purchases on your Hilton Citi or Amex card. The Hilton HHonors™ Surpass® Card from American Express can also earn you 12X on every Hilton purchase. For a Diamond member taking advantage of this promotion and putting spend on the Surpass, that would be a return of about 21%.

21% is great but if you’re looking for high returns from a program (that doesn’t even require you to have status), then look into BonWi.com. It’s a new online travel agency that I’m helping to spread the word about given that it offers such substantial returns. For example, I stayed at a Hyatt Regency in Dallas in got 40% back and with my credit card spend factored in, it was a whopping 46% return.

Final word

This is a solid promotion with no limits and minimums so if you were planning at staying at Hilton properties this coming summer you should be getting ready to cash out, especially if you’re a Hilton Diamond member.
