Chase has been a on a mission to gain more traction with its mobile payment service Chase Pay. We’ve seen special promotions for using Chase Pay at both WalMart and Best Buy in the past, allowing cardholders of Freedom and Sapphire credit cards to earn 10X back on purchases (usually on spend up to or around $400). Well, now the Chase Best Buy 10X deal is back.
- Here’ a link to the offer
Chase Best Buy 10X deal
Here the key terms and conditions:
- 10% back per dollar spent on up to $400 in purchases.
- Offer ends 2/4/18.
- In store only (you just need to download the Chase Pay App in order to do so)
Here are the official terms and conditions:
*Offer valid in-store only. During the promotional period of January 15, 2018, to February 4, 2018, earn an extra 9% cash back on up to $400 in purchases at Best Buy® when you check out with your Chase Freedom card using Chase Pay. The bonus cash back earned is in addition to the 1% cash back you earn on all purchases for a total of 10% cash back. Bonus cash back will post to your account within a week of the transaction posting, and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement and be available for use within 1–2 billing cycles. To qualify for this promotional offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This promotional offer is non-transferable. For more information about your rewards program, see your Rewards Program Agreement.
In the past, these promotions have applied to both Chase Freedom cards and the Sapphire cards allowing some people to spend around $1,600 and get 10X back for a whopping 16,000 points. Right now, it’s not clear that this promotion also applies to other Sapphire cards and the Chase Freedom Unlimited.
Since the terms specify that you’re earning 9X in addition to the normal 1X, I can only assume they are referencing the original Freedom card. But it is confusing since the Freedom already earns 5X on mobile payments this quarter.
I would not be surprised if it does end up applying to the other Sapphire cards and Freedom Unlimited but I’m awaiting confirmation via DOC on that.
Ultimately, the Chase Best Buy 10X deal is a great opportunity to cash in on rewards since there are so many things to buy at Best Buy (including gift cards).
