Some people have recently reported receiving a letter from the White House regarding their stimulus payment.
The letter, which contains President Donald Trump’s signature and White House letterhead, reiterates that the government is working to support struggling families during these tough economic times.
“We are fully committed to ensuring that you and your family have the support you need to get through this time,” the letter notes.
The letter outlines the passage on the CARES Act and expresses gratitude for Congress for working so quickly with the President’s Administration to fast track the $2 trillion stimulus package.
But most of all it confirms that you are a recipient of an economic impact payment and it also confirms the amount of your payment and the type of payment method, such as direct deposit.
It does not state a date that you will receive the payment, however.
But it does provide you with a phone number to call if you have questions about your economic impact payment. That phone number is 800-919-9835. (Not having a phone number to call for questions has been an issue for a lot of people.)
This letter is in line with the text found in the CARES legislation which stated:
“Not later than 15 days after the date on which the (Treasury) Secretary distributed any payment to an eligible taxpayer pursuant to this subsection, notice shall be sent by mail to such taxpayer’s last known address. Such notice shall indicate the method by which such payment was made, the amount of such payment, and a phone number for the appropriate point of contact at the Internal Revenue Service to report any failure to receive such payment.”
Many people had issues getting confirmation that they were eligible for a payment and also had issues signing up for direct deposit over the past couple of weeks.
A lot of those issues have resolved but there are still lots of people who have not received payments and still have questions about eligibility and the timing of the payments.
Perhaps now some of those people can use this phone number to inquire about many of their questions and concerns.

I bought groceries for my family and cleaners and finally got to pay a couple of very small bills. Groceries were the top priority though. I do pray that you can please send out more money to help us. We have to get more food in the house and pay our mortgage and lights and water bill so very soon. We had our income tax hacked in 2018 . We had to file paper with a pin number. I wonder where that leaves us.
Why I haven’t received my stimulas check when I filed in 2018 I got a paper check at an old address, when I filed in 2019,they found issues with my return, so they never processed my 2019 return which included my new address and my bank account information, but they didn’t send me anything I guess because they never processed my 2019 return, I’m cool with it though cause I know they can do whatever they want
You have a great understanding of the IRS system. They do have a system that was implemented 55 years ago so it is very outdated. You should try the IRS website and also the post office because it’s not too late to file. Deadline is July 15th.

IRS puts our tax returns on hold to process stimulus checks,thats only going to pay one or two bills.Then in the next couple of months your bills still will be due.What if the IRS staff don’t return back to work,then what….People filed electronically and still waiting for several months with no explanation because offices are closed.I would rather have my tax return to pay several bills than a stimulus thats only gonna pay one bill…Facts for me I can’t speak for others…

Did you file for 2019? If you did then you’ll get your check with the card ot bank you use to get your return on. If you didn’t do this, then you will still get a check. All you have to do is go to non-filers portal and fill that information out pair. Then you’ll get your check

Wrong…. I filed my 2019 in January 2020- got my return just fine. I have 2 automatic deposit accts at my bank. Ckgng IRS website I am told my check will be mailed. Mailed or deposited, still no ckg.

Called the number listed and it is just a recording with options to hear other recorded info. My Stimulus check was deposited into a closed account that I had last year ( even though I had filed 2019 taxes and given the new deposit info) so the payment was returned. The Get My Payment website has not updated any information on my returned stimulus payment. It still just says that it was direct deposited on April 15th into the closed account. No updated info whatsoever and still no way to reach anyone.
The same thing happened to me, I checked the get my payment portal yesterday and it said my check will be mailed out on 4/28/2020.

I just dont get how you can get a check if you owe back taxes, but you cant get a check if you owe child support, even non custodial parents fall behind too, not every father is a deadbeat. Makes no sense.
I receive SSI and have a pending deposit for the 29th but only for 1200 i used the non filers form to add my 3 children as dependants back on april 10th (like they asked) got an email it was accepted within a few hours but no deposit for them anyone else have that problem? I tried that number and it seems it’s only an information line? Anyone else tried it?
Big question answered by the IRS… “where is my $500 per child that I followed the specific guidelines of having to fill out for non-filers before a specific date of April 25 then it changed to May 5th that had to be filled out for non-filers?” So I have been calling the 800.919.9835 and 800.829.1040 for days and poof I finally had a live person answer. The live person was extremely nice and explained to me that not one… yes I said Not one single $500 child dependent payment has been processed as of yet. All she could say was that if I don’t get the payment this year I will have to file next year to receive it. So then I asked will the payments for $500 per child be sent out this year and she just kept on saying if I don not get it this year then I will have to file next year. Then I asked will any $500 payment be processed this year. She then said she has not seen any update on whether any payment will be processed this year but if I do not receive it then I have to file next year. She also said this is all new to them and they have no format or procedure in place on when or even whether any $500 payment will be made this year at all…. so my conclusion is that for everyone that has followed the guidelines of carefully taking the time of filling out the information on the IRS non-filers tool hoping to get a payment of the $500 child dependent, well think again because they told us one thing and did not even follow through with what they said they were going to do. I feel they should be honest with us about not paying the $500 child dependent money to us because it would surely save the public’s own sanity of having to try and call daily to get an actual live person on the phone. And also save the IRS from having to pay the people that answer the phones for all the people with the same question… Hmmmmm maybe they feel we have to much time on our hands and want us to call in and keep this never ending cycle of going round and round… Question to the IRS or Power that be… please just tell us if it’s going to be paid this year or if you are just out of money from sending the money to deceased people, or $1,000,000. to people on accident… by letting people know this up front will save on out sanity and know that we will not expect the money this year as it was intended to help us feed our kids….
I spoke to someone the other day too rob and was told next tax season because their system can’t do another payment this year because it’s a tax credit for 2020. Makes sense except for the fact I’ve seen several people get 2 different payments at 2 seperate times to the same account so we need a better solution. We shouldn’t have to wait if we did everything they asked.
