Over the span of the last few years, they have helped Brad and I save thousands of dollars on things like shopping, travel, and even bills.

Tip: Use WalletFlo for all your credit card needs. It’s free and will help you optimize your rewards and savings!

What cards offer Amex Offers?

You can find Amex Offers with virtually any American Express charge card or credit card.

Some of the most valuable cards that are used to pull up Amex Offers include the Gold Card and the Platinum Card.

The Gold Card is great because you can earn 4X Membership Rewards on dining and US supermarkets (up to $25,000 a year).

The Platinum Card is more of a benefits-rich card and known for offering some of the best lounge access in addition to 5X on airfare.

Tip: Both of these cards can often be stacked with Amex Offers in order to maximize the amount of points earned.

What type of offers are available?

Amex Offer deals and promotions cover a wide range of industries and products.

Although there is a large variety of offers, if you spend enough time reviewing Amex Offers you will notice some patterns beginning to emerge with some retailers and product categories always showing up.

I’ll give you some examples.

If you are ever in the market for new sunglasses, contacts, or any type of prescription eyewear, be sure to check Amex Offers because you will normally always find some type of discount available.

Wine drinkers are in luck because there are often several different types of promotions related to wine purchases and things like wine gift baskets.

Luggage is another popular category I see pop up allowing you to save with different luggage brands and stores like eBags.

Certain restaurants will also be prevalent like the Cheesecake Factory, Starbucks, etc. (The dining discounts are great to stack with the Gold Card.)

If you ever have any intention on purchasing something from Dell or to use your Dell credit from the Amex Business Platinum Card, you can usually find something from Amex Offers.

When it comes to travel, you will also be happy to know that travel promotions and deals come around all the time.

Some promotions might be limited to Amex Travel or the FHR but many others will be open to bookings made directly with hotels and airlines.

Sometimes hotel offers might be exclusive to a hotel program such as Hilton or they might even be specific to individual hotel brands such as brands like Conrad, Curio, etc.

You might also encounter travel deals hotel deals exclusive to certain regions, such as “Hilton Europe.”

It’s also common to see offers for Marriott such as save $60 when you spend $300 or even offers for lesser-known boutique hotels.

Always look for stacking opportunities with your hotel credit cards like the Hilton Aspire and Bonvoy Brilliant — two cards which have credits that can often be used in conjunction with Amex Offers.

Airline savings can be pretty huge.

I’ve seen offers for different airlines like Air Canada where if you spend $750 or more you can save $150. I once even saw an offer for saving $400 on the $1,500 JetBlue vacation package.

So look for large savings opportunities in the travel categories.

When it comes to gas you can often find discounts and if you ever want to purchase a subscription to a magazine you might be able to find a promo for it.

As you can see, the savings can really start to add up in some cases.

But there are a few things you want to know about these offers that will help you utilize them a little better.

Amex Offers on travel can often lead to big savings.

Things to know about Amex Offers

Many Amex Offers are targeted

Sometimes the Amex Offers that go out are targeted meaning that only a certain segment of cardholders or cards will receive the offer.

This means that you may receive offers that differ from other American Express customers and it also means that some of your cards may have different offers than others.

Tip: If you ever hear about targeted offers, you should check all of your cards to see if any of them are targeted since sometimes only one of your Amex cards will be targeted.

Huge earnings

Be on the lookout for some offers that offer a ridiculous amount of bonus points for your spend (these are often found with spend on high-end luxury brands).

Consider this offer from Salvatore Ferragamo of 10,000 Membership Rewards after spending $500. If you value Membership Rewards at 1.75 cents per point, that’s like getting $175 back or 35% back.

So there are some huge earning opportunities out there sometimes.

In some cases, it could make sense to purchase an item with the intention of re-selling it in order to just earn extra points. If you are savvy with flipping items, Amex Offers will have a lot of opportunities for you.

Tip: Be sure to check if you can use ShopRunner with the merchant to get free shipping which can help when reselling.

Look for a huge learning opportunities with luxury brands.

Repeated use

Some offers are designed to be used more than once.

In the past, I have used offers to save on my internet and phone bills for multiple months in a row.

You may be able to use an offer two or three times or even more so always check the terms and don’t assume that the offers are one and done.

Stacking

You can often stack Amex Offers with other Amex Offers and also outside deals and promotions.

Whether it is using a cashback portal or simply finding the right promo codes, you can often capitalize on additional savings, sometimes going three or four levels deep.

For example, if you want to make a purchase from Dell your stacking opportunity could look something like:

  • Extra Membership Rewards on your purchase (Amex Offers)
  • 15% off Dell purchase (Amex Offers)
  • 2% back through cashback portal
  • Dell credit from Business Platinum

Sometimes you might need to check the fine print for the Amex Offer just to make sure that additional promo codes will not make you ineligible for savings.

But often times you can put together some amazing stacking deals.

Amex Offers different forms

Percentage discount

Some Amex Offers may give you a certain percentage off your total after you make a purchase. For example, you may receive 15% off a purchase.

There is usually a limit on your savings that will be stated in the offer so you may only be able to receive 15% off up to a total savings amount of $200.

Fixed savings amount

Some offers may simply provide you with a fixed savings of something like $25.

Additional bonus points

If you have a Membership Rewards earning card, often you will see promotions that allow you to earn extra Membership Rewards on a specific type of purchase.

So, for example, you might earn one extra Membership Reward for every dollar spent at a place like the Cheesecake Factory.

Selection of points or savings

In some cases, you will be able to choose whether or not you want to receive points or savings. Many times the points will be worth one cent per point when you have this option. In those cases, I choose to go with points.

Exclusions

Many times you will find specific items excluded from the promotion.

For example, if you had an offer to Best Buy you might see that GeekSquad.com purchases are excluded or you might see gift cards excluded.

Some purchases may only be valid at online stores or in-store. Be on the lookout for exclusions at places like outlet stores, airport locations, stadiums, etc.

There may also be geographical restrictions such as requirements that the purchase be made at a store located within the US.

Adding multiple offers to all of your cards

In the past, you could use multiple tabs to add offers to multiple cards. People would abuse this and end up using an offer many times over.

American Express eventually caught on and started to clawback savings meaning that people had to pay back what they had earned in savings.

You can tell that American Express frowns upon that type of activity based on their terms and conditions which state:

“Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels.”

Therefore, if you ever come across something like this I would advise that you do not participate in it because it could lead you to getting into trouble with American Express.

How do you find Amex Offers?

For standard American Express cards, all you have to do is log-in to your account and then scroll down to the “Amex Offers & Benefits”section.

If you click on “Amex Offers & Benefits” you will see an entire breakdown of your offers.

If you are interested in an offer simply click on “add to card.”

The “add to card” button may switch to “redeem now” and if you click on that you will usually be taken to the merchant’s website.

If the purchase must be made in store, after you add the offer to your card you may see nearby addresses for that merchant.

Look for nearby locations after adding an offer to your card.

Once you have added the offer to your card you should get a confirmation message and email.

At that point, all you have to do is use your card and it will automatically trigger the offer.

Some American Express cards are third party cards. For example, some credit cards are issued by Wells Fargo but they run on the American Express payment network.

You can still use American Express offers for these cards but you need to head over to the American Express connect website.

Once you find an offer that you would like to add to your card, simply click on “add to card” and then proceeded to input your details such as your name and your credit card number.

After you have added offers to your card you can check to see all of the current offers added by clicking on “Added to card.” And if you want to get an idea of how much you have saved, just click on the “savings” tab.
